On our way!

Spending $1,200 never felt so good. After months of procrastination and coming to the realization that there just weren't any cheap flights from the desert to Europe this summer, I've finally made travel arrangements to arrive in Frankfurt the morning of Tuesday, June 6th. See you then....

Ronaldo undergoes successful knee surgery

No, no, not that one....but it's not too early.... although the 'famous' Ronaldo isn't going through easy times either. My 5-year old Beagle Ronaldo — who bears a striking resemblance to Ronaldo the Footballer because he A) has a little gap between his two front teeth, B) is a little overweight and C) has a steady stream of famous Latina underwear models streaming in and out of the house (not that I'm complaining) — went under the knife Friday after being diagnosed Wednesday with the canine equivalent of a torn ACL (CCL if you're being technical, as dogs don't actually have ACLs). I promise not to go into my personal life much, but....

Anyway, it turns out that Ronaldo is unlike the 'real' Ronaldo because he played (fetch) through it for at least 2 weeks. He just wants the damn tennis ball — he's a soldier. You think growing up in a Rio de Janeiro favela would have given Ronaldo the Footballer a similar appetite for the game, but no. So anyway, we took Ronaldo into the pet orthopedic surgeon. She was very cool, and explained to me and my mom that dogs are as susceptible to knee injuries as female athletes. Huh..who knew? So Ronaldo the dog is out two months, when he should begin light exercises and hopefully recover in time for the World Cup, which starts June 9th. That's asking a lot, with Adriano behind him....
